Delivered new features and fixes across our in-house publishing systems (Symfony and Laravel), which turn websites into static sites and deploy them across AWS regions. 1,600+ commits across 8 repositories.
Built a real-time publish monitor (JavaScript, jQuery) for the main publishing app, then a more advanced one using Livewire for the Laravel + AWS Lambda service that modernised publishing (up to 200 parallel workers), plus its read/write database split and test suite (100% coverage on critical parts).
Built site-based user permissions for the publishing platform, so 'freelancers' (contracted sports writers) could only access and publish their own sites. Designed and built REST APIs and SQL queries, with PHPUnit and Panther tests.
Improved communication between the publishing platform and the CMS, so writers saw publish failures in real time.
Moved to the CMS team in 2025 (Laravel Nova + Vue.js, 50+ websites): redesigned components, improved usability and ran spikes, including an OpenAI Responses API prototype that beat the Prism package on reliability and speed.
Reviewed and QA tested colleagues' changes, released code to live environments through Jenkins, and fixed critical production bugs under pressure, often dropping planned work to do so.
Helped build a Slack bot that used the OpenAI API to turn developers' requests into Jenkins jobs, automating database syncs and redeploys. Also wrote Cursor rules and CLAUDE.md files across several repositories, and set up n8n for staff.
Developed and maintained the customer-facing e-commerce website (legacy PHP, CodeIgniter), used in 130+ countries and 30 languages. Resolved 3,500+ tickets in just over 2 years, including many long-standing bugs.
